Fast Serial 0.96b - English release notes - 20.03.1997
======================================================
Those who have been having problems accessing the higher baud
rates offered by the M-STE/TT/Falcon's SCC chips using HS-modem
and Atari's MODEM.CPX need not worry anymore.
FAST_SER.PRG replaces any and all HS-Modem modules with a single
program going into the AUTO folder just before STIKTSR.PRG when
used in conjunction with the STiK Internet layer.
Contrary to HS-Modem, whose modules must be hand-picked and then
configured to suit your particular system, Fast Serial will poll
your system to find out the exact make and model of your SCC and
adapt its routines accordingly. The patch also recognizes if an
ESCC has been retrofited.
The matching FSERIAL.CPX was translated by Katherine Ellis from
German to English and is almost self-explanatory. It works like
MODEM.CPX but recognizes the higher baudrates supplied on every
SCC or ESCC equipped Atari (eg: M-STE/TT/Falcon).
Anyone wanting to learn more should look for the full archive on
FTP sites, named FSER096B.LZH, and be prepared to handle reading
the original text files in German.
